Student-Run Luncheon Offers Taste of the ‘Sweet Life’

Diners at the Educated Palate restaurant on the campus of Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES were served up an Italian feast by Hospitality students on the campus recently.
The theme for the luncheon was La Dolce Vita—Italian for “the sweet life”—and it lived up to its name, as patrons enjoyed the savory meal and sumptuous dessert.
Diners feasted on meatballs on polenta with Marsala sauce; chicken cacciatore and spaghetti; sautéed broccoli with shallots; and homemade cannoli cake.
Hospitality students do everything from planning the menu to cooking, baking and serving at the Educated Palate.
Katie McGuigan, from Hendrick Hudson High School, said she loves the Hospitality program at The Tech Center because “it gives me real-world experience in the restaurant field.”
David Ramirez, from Fox Lane High School, said the program has taught him a lot about the hospitality industry. “I love learning more about cooking,” he said.
