Learning about the Legal Side of Social Media

The proliferation of electronic media in schools, both as a teaching tool as well as a means of communication, has blurred the lines of acceptable communication among students, teachers and anonymous users. On March 21, more than 50 school district leaders came together at Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES to learn about the legal ramifications surrounding social media.  Attendees learned about the liability school districts may face for inadequate regulation, as well as the constitutional limits school districts may face as they create their own social media policies.
