ESY- Program Coordinators

DUTIES:
Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates operating a 6-week ESY Program for students with disabilities from July 1, 2019 through August 9, 2019. The ESY Program Coordinator is a seasonal leadership position that is responsible for the preparation, planning and supervision required to oversee the day to day operations of the ESY program (i.e. student management, transportation, scheduling).

KEY TASKS - assist with interviewing and hiring the ESY staff, as needed; assist with scheduling students into classes and their related services; assist with assigning staff; supervise and evaluate all of the ESY staff; maintain records and reports for students; effectively communicate with parents, students, staff, administrators, and districts. Other duties as required by the Director of Special Education or the State Education Department.

Coordinators will accept the responsibility for any outstanding hiring, scheduling, staffing assignments, and logistical program issues as of June 1, 2019.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess the appropriate New York State Education Department certification to hold position. Appropriate NYS School Building Administrator certification.

Literacy Training Specialist

Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates the need for a Literacy Training Specialist. Provide professional development, technical assistance and coaching to staff in schools, districts and programs across the Lower Hudson valley on:

  • Evidence-based literacy instructional programs and strategies
  • Specially designed literacy instruction for students with disabilities
  • Delivery of instruction and assessment within the Multi-Tiered System of Support framework
  • Assessing student outcomes through benchmarking, progress monitoring and diagnostic assessment
  • Fidelity of implementation assessments for core literacy programs and literacy interventions

Work collaboratively with team members to facilitate district and school teams to develop and implement improvement plans that impact literacy outcomes of students with disabilities and to conduct regional needs assessments
Collaborate with the regional Family & Community Engagement Centers to develop and deliver trainings for family and community members on these topics
Collaboratively develop goal-driven Support Plans with identified schools and districts, and facilitate implementation of the plans as well as data collection on impact of the plans
Contribute content for the Center website and develop on-line training modules on literacy-related topics
Participate in professional development activities as directed by NYSED, including 2-day training in Albany, monthly webinars, online learning opportunities, regional meetings
Document work and submit required reports to NYSED on activities and impact of those activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Special Education and/or a literacy-related field
  • At least three years experience as a teacher or related service provider with students with disabilities
  • Experience providing professional development and technical assistance
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience as a literacy coach or reading specialist
  • Three years experience providing professional development, coaching and technical assistance

  • Work to connect graduating students with job openings.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be NYSED certified and have a Work-Based Learning Coordinator certification.

PNW BOCES (Education Services) is seeking a full-time Technical Lead / Help Desk Coordinator to join our technology team based in Yorktown Heights, NY. In order to be successful in this role, you'll need a good blend of technical skills, leadership ability, commitment to exceptional customer service, and excellent follow-through. Please note that this is a highly technical “hands on” role.
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing technology support activities (including coordination/scheduling) of Help Desk staff involved in the efficient/timely delivery of IT services.
  • Provide technical leadership. This person is the first level of escalation for Level 1 and Level 2 Support staff.
  • Providing expert IT support for issues related to hardware, software, and systems. Diagnose and resolve issues remotely if appropriate.
  • Assigning service calls to help desk staff/vendors via a ticketing system, insuring that activities are properly prioritized, completed, and documented.
  • Identifying support metrics and regularly review findings with Help Desk team and overall IT team to determine process improvements, proactive measures to prevent recurring issues, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Interacting with users via site visits and meetings for deployment of new services, the technical education of users, and the completion of IT projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical documentation and conduct training for technical/non-technical agency user community.
  • Overseeing the inventory of IT equipment, software, etc., and entering related purchase orders.
  • Review IT support staff tasks, processes, and deployments for quality control and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical support: 3 years
