My internship at the American Civil Liberties Union has given
me direction for my career. The experience helped me realize
that I want to continue with law school after college. The
best part about this is that I no longer have to worry that
my decision to do this is wrong and will be a waste of time.
The internship has made me realize that I want to help people
get the justice they deserve.
The academics have taught me to love learning, a feeling
that I had lost throughout high school. Through the work I've
done in the English/creative writing class, I've found a new
respect and love for writing. I was constantly inspired and
reassured that my work was good and my efforts were not in
vain. I now have a portfolio of my best work to bring with
me to college and add to in the coming years.

Walkabout has really broadened my horizons. I don't think
that I would have been up to the standards of a few of the
colleges to which I applied if I didn't have the experiences
here at Walkabout.
My internship was incredible. I worked with Susan Sidor Productions.
Susan is a free-lance fashion director producer, as well as
a stylist for the Men's Magazine Forum. She managed her own
venue at the big fashion production called "7th on Sixth."
During fashion week there are over a hundred shows going on
and I was thrown into the very middle of it all. My internship
helped me realize I want to study fashion and design in college.
Because of the new level of maturity I now possess, I've been
treated as an adult in the working world.

Walkabout has helped prepare me for the real world, the working
world. It has taught me that working should be something that
I enjoy and is meaningful to me. I did my career internship
at CBGB and OMFUG, a rock club in Manhattan. I have received
many benefits from this experience. I have learned very good
management skills and I have had much interaction with a variety
of adult professional people. I am thankful for the motivation
Walkabout has given me to enjoy the working life and use it
to my advantage.
