High School Credits

Students are provided instruction in preparation to take the advanced placement (AP) exams in both physics and calculus at the end of the school year.

The Tech Center at Yorktown offers the following academic credit; one credit in calculus, one credit in physics, one credit in English, one credit in social studies, and two credits in engineering exploration. One-half credit in physical education is also available upon request.

College credit and tuition awards are available to Tech Center students who complete a prescribed program of study and attain sufficient levels of success equivalent to that school’s accepted standards. Transferable credit is also available with minimal course registration fees at several colleges. The information below lists current articulation agreements with maximum credit to be awarded for the 2009-2010 school year. Please note that additional articulation agreements are currently under review and may be added to this list. Course Description
An academically rigorous one-year program for college-bound high school seniors who plan to major in an engineering discipline.

New Visions Engineering students receive instruction in Calculus, Physics, and various engineering principles.  Students explore the world of engineering through hands-on projects that integrate academics and engineering concepts.  Job shadowing opportunities and site visits are coordinated throughout the school year enabling the students to see first-hand the activities and responsibilities related to various engineering disciplines
