Career Paths

What do you want to be when you grow up?

That’s a question frequently asked of young people.  Yet students often don’t have the experience to know what their choices are.

The first question children need to have answered is: What careers are out there?

The Tech Center at Yorktown is now offering an experience for students in the10th and 11th grades, to learn about a variety of careers areas.  Students enrolled in Career Paths will rotate through eight different career areas during the course of a school year.  The career areas they will experience are:

Environmental, Floral and Greenhouse Careers

Art, Advertising and Graphic Design

Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management

Smart House Technology and Fiber Optics

Masonry and Landscape Design

Construction

Computer Assisted Design: Home and Automotive

Sports and Business Management

The program is offered from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Monday through Friday at The Tech Center at Yorktown.  This program offers two high school credits.  Career and Financial Management is infused within the curriculum.  Transportation is provided by the district.
