Hudson River Teacher Center (THRTC)
Welcome from the Director
On behalf of the Policy Board of the Hudson River Teacher Center, I welcome you to our website. THRTC has been in existence since 1986 and has developed into a creative and innovative staff development center with the focus of supporting the professional development needs of all educators.
The policy board of THRTC is comprised of teachers, administrators, business personnel and university people from the member school districts. The policy board of the teacher center provides consistency and guidance to the director and the center.
THRTC provides Professional Staff Development for all educational professionals based on the Standards for New York State Teachers Centers. The teacher center supports professional development within districts by supplying consultants to present and facilitate workshops and courses in school districts for teachers, support staff, teacher aides, and assistants. In addition, there are opportunities for all educators to attend trainings, courses, and conferences at Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES in Yorktown Heights, the location of the program office. Course offerings are based on topics requested by teachers, follow up evaluations, state mandates, and district plans.
THRTC services include equipment loans, opportunities to obtain advanced degrees, and participate in specialized training, e.g., Wilson training, TEACCH. These are in addition to the many trainings that are scheduled year round.
Please contact the teacher center to share your ideas regarding staff development needs for your school or if you are interested in pursuing offering training through THRTC.
Sincerely,
Kathy Batchelor, Director
