Hudson River Teacher Center
Welcome from the Director
On behalf of the Policy Board of the Hudson River Teacher Center, I welcome
you to our web site. Our Center has been in existence since 1986 and has
grown over the years into a mature creative and innovative, staff development
center.
The Teacher Center is governed by a policy board composed of teachers,
administrators and parents, as well as business, community and college
representatives. It guides the Center in providing all staff the opportunity
to take charge of their own staff development. The Center provides grants,
consultants, workshops/courses, special programs and technology equipment
loans. A director coordinates the activities of the Center.
We provide Professional Staff Development for our participants based
on the Standards for New
York State Teachers Centers. Our consultants will present and facilitate
workshops and courses in your school for teachers, support staff, teacher
aides and assistants. In addition, you will find these same offerings
and many others at our center located at Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES
in Yorktown Heights. We base our topics on teacher need, follow-up evaluations,
state mandates and district plans.
Our services include loans of technology and audio visual materials, and
opportunities to get Masters degrees in a variety of programs. As well,
our mini-grant program, offered in the early spring each year, provides
monetary grants to both individual teachers and groups in schools.
We’d like to hear from you if you have staff development ideas
for your school or wish to present at our center.
Sincerely,
Kathy
