Substantial Equivalency at Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES

April 02, 2019

School district leaders attended a training session on the topic of Substantial Equivalency at Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES on April 2, 2019. The training was conducted by New York State Department of Education staff in response to updated state guidance regarding the requirement for substantial equivalency of instruction at nonpublic schools to ensure that all students receive the education to which they are entitled.  The session gave school leaders the opportunity to discuss key portions of the training among themselves and to ask questions of SED representatives.

“Today’s training on substantial equivalency brought together school leaders from our public school districts and private/religious schools, said BOCES District Superintendent Dr. James Ryan. “This was a very valuable conversation and a great first step in strengthening the ties between the schools in our region.”
