Putnam Community Service Network Honors PNW BOCES’ Regional Crisis Team

October 19, 2018

Members of Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES' Regional Crisis Team are not spotlight-seekers. The group of dedicated school social workers, psychologists and counselors are typically busy supporting students and families in countless ways. However, at the team’s most recent meeting, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lynn Allen took a moment to celebrate not only the group, but each member, for receiving an award that gets to the heart of this group’s mission: providing on-site support, as well as follow up support and services, to students and staff in the aftermath of a serious school crisis.

Each year, Putnam Community Service Network, an educational program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County, bestows the Fred L. Dill Community Service Networking Award on a “group of community and human service agencies that have collaborated to achieve a common goal by coordinating efforts to enhance the lives of Putnam County residents.” PCSN presented this year’s Fred L. Dill award to BOCES’ RCT at an October 3 awards breakfast; at this week’s RCT meeting on BOCES’ Yorktown campus, each member of the team was presented with an individual award certificate.

Marla Behler, program coordinator at the Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County, nominated the RCT for the award. “This award recognizes groups that cooperate and come together for the common good of Putnam County residents,” said Behler. “The RCT represents everything that the Fred. L. Dill Award stands for; RCT members tirelessly volunteer their time and demonstrate true collaboration.”

Dr. Allen congratulated the team and noted that many outstanding groups had been nominated for PCSN awards. “We were among superstars at the award breakfast,” she said. “I am so proud of our team for being recognized for the hard work it accomplishes each and every day.”

BOCES' RCT includes representatives from 18 component districts, along with representatives from several community mental health agencies, all trained to provide post-crisis support in coordination with one another.
