Medical Assistant Students View Hyperbaric Chamber

February 05, 2018

Medical Assistant students from The Tech Center at PNW BOCES got a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and see a hyperbaric chamber during a recent trip to Chappaqua Crossings, part of Northern Westchester Hospital’s services.

“Hyperbaric chambers offer state of the art treatment modalities for patients who have serious infections, specific blood vessel disorders, or wounds that will not heal as a result of diabetes or radiation,” according to CTE teacher Maria Pontbriand. “My students got to interact with staff and were given opportunities for hands-on learning,” Pontbriand said. “In addition they were able to learn about cutting-edge medical technology that is now available in the outpatient clinical settings.”
