“You only fail when you stop,” said student speaker Colby Kelland at the Fox Meadow High School Graduation Wednesday evening. “You are all good enough. You all worked hard to get where you are seated now.”
Kelland, who juggled a full-time job with his high school studies, acknowledged that he and his classmates had overcome many obstacles to reach commencement day at the Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES school. He thanked the Fox Meadow High School staff for the support he received, joking that three staffers had his “number on speed dial.”
Fifteen students from nine school districts across the region graduated from Fox Meadow High School. They wore vivid red caps and gowns and took their places under a festively decorated tent. The bond between students and staff could be seen clearly as teachers cheered for students and  students embraced teachers.
District Superintendent Dr. James Ryan described the graduates as “young men and women of character with an enthusiasm for life” and praised their parents and families for making their success possible.
Parent speaker Laura Roublick said that Fox Meadow had become a “second home” to her daughter, Nicole, and “an extension to our family.”
Keynote speaker Dr. Joanna Fava, director of the Center for Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, told the students that when you combine passion and perseverance, you get grit. “Research shows that one of the best predictors of success is grit,” she said.

Fox Meadow Principal Dr. Nicole Murphy said the tradition of holding graduation on the Fox Meadow campus would be dedicated to the Class of 2018, whose members had lobbied for a change in venue for commencement. Previous graduations were held on BOCES’ main campus in Yorktown Heights.

The following students graduated: Cameron Callahan (Arlington); Omar Cardona (Brewster); Brandon Gordon (Elmsford); Jaquail Grant (Elmsford); Justin Green (Mahopac); Anisa Hamilton (Mt.
