June 28, 2018

The Creative Services Department at Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES was recognized for outstanding graphic design and video production by the National School Public Relations Association this week.

Graphic Designer Tricia Herbold won an Award of Excellence in the Special Purpose Publication category for her original book, Eagle Eagle, which was written by Science 21 Coordinator David Jacob.
Eagle Eagle is a full-color, glossy 24-page book that explains how eagles, salmon, coyotes and other wildlife survive in their environment.  It is part of the Science 21 Curriculum created by PNW BOCES for grades kindergarten through two.

Media production specialist Edward Catapano received an Award of Merit for a Creative Services Department Promotional video, and shared merit awards with the PNW BOCES School Communications Department for videos on 21st Century Learning and Technology in Mahopac Central School District, and the impending closing of Indian Point in the Hendrick Hudson School District.

The Creative Services Department provides consultations and recommendations on a wide range of design options including the creation of signature looks for buildings, conference rooms and hallways that can be aligned with a district’s mission and vision or other key school district initiatives. CSD also provides logos, brochures, letterhead, banners, posters and other visuals to school districts.

In partnership with the School Communications Service, Creative Services also creates videos for a variety of purposes including budget messages, program overviews, welcome videos and more. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lynn Allen oversees the Creative Services Department.
