Pre-Thanksgiving Feast a Hit at Student-Run Restaurant

November 17, 2017

Workers at the Educated Palate student-run restaurant on the campus of PNW BOCES were ahead of the rush recently, as they served up a pre-Thanksgiving feast to excited customers.

“I would say the food is actually even better than restaurant quality,” said Mary Jean Merando, from Corlandt Manor, a regular customer. “I tell everyone to come.”

Diners enjoyed roasted butternut squash salad with warm cider vinaigrette, roast turkey with sausage and mushroom stuffing, sweet potatoes with honey and cinnamon, and sauteed green beans with caramelized onions. For dessert, there was homemade maple-glazed butternut-squash cake.

Hospitality students at The Tech Center at PNW BOCES do everything from preparing the menu and working the front of the house to cooking, baking — and even the dishes.

Patron Nancy Dini, from Mahopac, gave the students rave reviews. “It is simply fantastic!” she said. “They do such a wonderful job!”

Diners enjoy the professional quality of food and service at Educated Palate.
