  NOVEL Instructional Resources

The NOVEL PowerPoint presentations and materials are the product of four workshops sponsored by the Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES School Library System and supported in part by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Each of the presentations is intended for a particular audience: elementary, middle or high school teachers or parents. The accompanying handouts enhance the information presented. The goal in utilizing these instructional resources is to train K - 12 teachers on a number of outstanding databases that can be used within the curriculum and involve parents in the hands-on coaching of their children in the use of these tools for life-long learning.

Below are the links to the NOVEL materials. There are workshops (90 minutes, hands-on) and presentations (45 minutes, no hands-on) for elementary, middle and high school.
