The Guidance and Child Study Center offers individual clients flexible
and personalized programs tailored to their specific needs. Evaluations
can be targeted to precise skills, such as speech and language, or can be
comprehensive, integrated appraisals that include cognitive ability,
personality, educational potential, vocational interest, and adaptive
measures.
Individual assessments can be arranged for:
- High school and middle
school students attending public, private, and parochial schools making
decisions about next steps toward graduation and beyond;
- Individuals or families
seeking independent, third-party assessments;
- Parents of pre-schoolers
seeking to learn more about one or more aspects of their child's
development;
- Adults considering
career changes or looking to return to the work force after raising a
family,
Whether it's psychological testing, multicultural evaluations, or our
college programs, the Guidance and Child Study Center provides
opportunities to area school districts to enhance services to their
students and staff. Specific services fall under three categories:
Assessment Services, Consultation Services, and Coordinating Services.
Assessment Services
Comprehensive and Psychological Appraisals
Options include testing in psychological, psychological, educational, and
motivational areas.
Neuropsychological Appraisal
Extensive assessment regarding certain cognitive deficits or closed
head injury.
Educational Evaluation
Assessment of education skills, levels K-1.
Social History
Developmental/medical/family data obtained utilizing district or BOCES
Guidance Center format.
Speech-and-Language Evaluation
Appraises strengths and weaknesses in speech and/or language area.
Multicultural Evaluations
Appraises students from other cultures and suggests educational
programs for them.
Psychological Screenings
Half-day evaluation tailored to district criteria regarding the needs of
handicapped students.
Psychological\Evaluation for Developmentally Disabled Students
Cognitive, educational, personality, vocational interest, and adaptive
measures tailored to district criteria regarding the needs of handicapped
students.
Career Development Battery
Cognitive measurement, career interest/maturity surveys, personality
measures, and in-depth personal interview.
College Application Assessment for the Learning Disabled Student
Cognitive assessment d achievement screening.
Assistive Technology
Determines strategies or devices to assist students with disabilities
to demonstrate their competencies.
