Guidance and Child Study Center
The Guidance and Child Study Center began serving the Putnam/Northern
Westchester area in 1948 - the first such center to be operated by a BOCES
region. In the years since, we have expanded horizons for more than 40,000
clients, ranging from pre-school age to golden age, helping them make
choices about their education, their careers, and the paths they want
to follow.
Testing – multicultural, psychological, educational and neurological
-- is provided to school districts on a regular basis by the Guidance
and Child Study Center. The Center also consults with districts
in the areas of behavior management, audiology, and assessment tools.
And when districts need help in staffing part time psychologists, social
workers or counselors, they often turn to the Guidance Center.
The Center offers programs during the year in areas such as character
education and crisis intervention. Each spring three different college-related
events are held -- for students, parents and guidance counselors, with
keynote speakers, college representatives and a myriad of workshops.
