Summer School Rules
Appropriate and respectful behavior is expected at all times.
No visitors are permitted.
Students are expected to wear appropriate summer attire and adhere to the Student Dress Code as described in the BOCES Code of Conduct. Copies of the Student Dress Code will be provided at registration. Students inappropriately dressed will be sent home.
Students may not bring boom boxes, walkmen, beepers, cell phones or laser pointers. Any of these items will be confiscated and returned to the parents.
Smoking is prohibited.
Possession of alcoholic beverages or drugs is illegal. Any student in possession of these substances will be immediately removed from the program. The police will be called in as well.
State law requires that students are at no time allowed to carry medication of any kind on their person, or to take medication in school without official written directive from a physician. Prescribed medication must be kept in the health office and taken with the nurse’s supervision.
Weapons such as, but not restricted to, firearms and knives constitute a serious threat to the safety and well being of students, school personnel, and property. The sale, use, or possession of such weapons will result in the immediate removal from the summer school program and police involvement.
Misbehavior or fighting may lead to suspension, dismissal from the program or referral to the police.
At a time when schools have experienced unusual violence, any threat will be considered as real and treated with the utmost seriousness. Police will be called as appropriate. A complete listing of rules and regulations and descriptions of due process are found in the Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES Code of Conduct. This document will be distributed to all students.
