Lesson 1: Fruit Loops

Fruits and vegetables need special weather conditions to grow just right! Visit these links and learn about where we get our fruits and vegetables:

Step One:

Dole 5 A Day - Click on the Fruits and Vegetables Encyclopedia. In the box marked, "Select here...," click on "Blueberries." Now click on "Where Grown." Read about places where blueberries are grown.

Step Two:

Bananas are grown mainly outside of the United States. To get a hint at where bananas are grown, click Dole 5 A Day - If it does not connect the first time click "Refresh."

Where are bananas grown? To check your answer, click here and follow the directions in Step One, using bananas as your choice.

Step Three:

Use the Dole 5 A Day Fruit and Vegetable Encyclopedia to guess five other fruits and vegetables that are grown in Florida. Make a list of these on a sheet of paper.

Did you know that there are 13 (including oranges, lemons, and limes) fruits and vegetables grown in Florida on the list? Why is Florida is such a good place to grow all these fruits and vegetables?
