Commercial Art
On June 6th, Andrea V., a Commercial Art student, presented a fashion show of original clothes she designed. The Spring Fashion Show was based on Evolution. She researched the 1920's, 40's, 50's, 70's, and 80's to create her garments. Andrea's garments were modeled after each decade but with a 90's style.

Bryce2 by Metatools is the latest addition to our Computer Graphics lab's software. Bryce 2 is a stand-alone application that allows users to design and render breathtaking natural 3D worlds. Our students have enjoyed exploring Bryce's intuitive interface and creating their final masterpieces. We plan to use Bryce2 to enhance our webpages, create backgrounds for our Extreme 3D projects and as blue screen backgrounds for video projects. |
On June 5th the Computer Graphics class went down to the Java Expo in NYC. The Object Expo, Java Expo gave our students at the Communications Academy a look at how the Java programming language enables the development of large-scale, platform indepenent, distributed applications. We visited the exhibition booth for Rogue Wave Software, where we saw a demo of Object Factory, a C++ development tool. We also learn about Java Beans at the Sun Microsystem/ JavaSoft booth. |

T.V. Production
"It looks like you're on Eyewitness News", said BOCES Superintendent Dudley Hare Jr. When ABC-TV built a new set, it donated a ton or two from the old one to our TV Production class. The set includes a massive desk, wooden backdrop, blue screen from the weather and more than enough lights to brighten our studio.
The gift was arranged by WABC production manager Joseph Cook and his wife, Pamela, and Lawrence E. Dwyer, Jr., chairman of the Westchester-Putnam School to Careers Partnership.
The set, which originally cost around $600,000 to build, is just one of the many improvements our TV Production class has undertaken this year. Other improvements include a larger studio with a control room and side rooms for editing and recording. Three new cameras and a nonlinear editing system have also be purchased.
