The Commercial Art class is one of the three classes that make up the Communications Academy. In Commercial Art, the students develop studio and creative conceptual thinking skills through various interesting and exciting art projects. Students learn the building blocks that enhance their skills so they will be able to express their ideas in a more creative and professional manner. We have an incredible studio space and hang our art in our own gallery!
Students are taught about various art materials and methods and how to apply them to their current projects. They learn critical thinking skills that help them develop superior solutions for creative problems. Many projects are delivered to the students as "live jobs", with the class being run like a professional agency with all the various checkpoints and deadlines. It is these types of projects that prepare the students for post-secondary education upon graduation from our program and employment in their chosen field of art.
Classes are not large and there is a lot of one on one with the instructor. In this class students develop and learn the importance of developing a strong professional portfolio and learn how to apply their artistic talent to the workforce. Students are challenged on a daily basis pushing the right side of their brain to the limits. It's all very exciting. It is not your typical art class; it's better!
