Hello to everyone out there in this crazy world! My name is Reimi Anabel Perez Ramos but everyone just calls me Reimi. I'm 17 years old and got my license two months ago but I have no car to drive. I had to point that out because it really bothers me. Anyway, I'm a Senior in Mahopac High School in Mahopac (how original). I hate my school with a passion. I moved here four years ago from Washington Heights in Manhattan. Four miserable years in this sucky, yucky town. Last year I enrolled in Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES which is like a technical trade school where you learn things hands-on. Ever since I've started taking T.V. Productions, it's made my life here a lot easier and more enjoyable.
I'm in the Communications Academy part of BOCES. There are three different classes in this department. T.V. Productions, Commercial Art and Computer Graphics. Like I said before,I'm in the T.V. Productions class. The class itself is set up as a television studio with studio lights, cameras and ACTION! There's also a control room, two editing rooms, and an audio room. We learn how to use the equipment and we work on individual projects once in awhile. Usually though, we work in groups either in our own class or with the other class. I say class as in one class because the Computer class just got started this year and we're sort of testing it out now. Each class also has a journal that we write in about every three weeks or so. At the end of the year, everyone makes their own portfolio and in that portfolio is the accumulation of all the projects we've done whether it be an individual or group project. There's also awards, certificates and anything else that you want to put in it.
The Communications Academy is one of the few things that makes my life here more enjoyable because I really like what I do here and it has helped me decide that I want to be in the communications department after I graduate and maybe make a career out of it. I've also met a lot of different people and made new friends from other schools that have also escaped their boring, read out of textbooks and expect to actually learn something and not just memorize it to pass the test, schools. I think this school brings out the best in every student, including me.
