Hi, and welcome to my web site. My name is Jaclyn, and I am a senior at Yorktown Central Schools, and a last-year student in The Communications Academy at Northern Westchester BOCES.
The Communications Academy is a combined class that is made up of the TV Productions class, and the Commercial Art Class. As a whole, both classes work on projects that involve both classes coming together with original ideas to create a finished product. Some of the projects we have worked on together are the Game Board Project, "Say No To Drugs" Project, and the Cliche` Project. Although we mostly work as two separate classes, we are allowed to see the progress our peers are making, and possibly share and suggest ideas.
After two years in the Communications Academy, I have decided that my interest in the Art field lies in Interior Design. I learned about this field, briefly, as I participated in a week-long workshop this past summer at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. We learned symbols for furniture, visited a design center, and created a floor plan for a living room. We were given the opportunity to create our Living Room through a hand-drawn floor plan, and a floor plan through the use Auto Cad. We had to choose the furniture, as well as paint and decorate. They had us look for fabric samples in their Design Library, then, as the week came to a close, we were given the opportunity to display our work for everyone to see.
